Sharing a Bit of My Home ~ Part 1

On this blog I usually share
show pics,
store pics,
 workshop pics,
you get the idea.  It is not a lot of personal stuff.  Anyway, I thought I would dedicate a few posts to my home.  I think it is important for you to "see" a bit of my personal space.

I have shared pics of my mantle before, it is one of the only places that I can decorate, because I don't have a lot of wall space.  This 97 year old house is instead "blessed" with many windows and doorways.

This is how my mantle looked in the winter in early evening.
We love this big old fireplace.

This is the mantle last summer.
(Yeah it hasn't been changed in a while.)

This is how it looked the other day with the morning sun streaming through the windows.
(No fires right now, just a coal bucket full of pinecones.)

Simple, just the way I like it,
but it has been a while since there was any change.

So...
**********************

I changed things up a bit.

I used the same pitchers.  And candle.

And salvage architectural pieces.

But I added the big graprevine wreath and preserved boxwoods.
I LOVE the boxwoods!

My favorite pic, one more time.
See the antique bayonet?  It makes a great conversational piece....

Coming up next, my Poppy room

A Sneak Peak for Remnants of the Past

For the last
show (in the fall) I did several posts with vignettes of what we were taking to the show.  For this show, I have a few sneak peaks of what we will be taking.  Hopefully I will be able to do another post before the show, but if not, here are a few teasers.

French chair with ticking seat.

Baskets, another chair, big grapevine wreath, sideboard.

Vintage enamel street signs.

Blue jars, vintage prescription boxes.

I will always have sheet music wreaths.

Large primitive island.

Chippy blue and white shutters.

Metal cans with great patina.

That's it for now folks!  I told you it was a peak.  I don't have time to set up perfect vignettes this time.  I hope this will satisfy you for now.  Hope to see you at the show, and if not, I promise I will take pics of the show to share later.

As most of you know, we hold workshops here at
The Vintage Bricoleur.
In the last month or so we held another
~Vintage Sheet Music Wreath Workshop~

~Flower Pin Workshop.~
Both were fun evenings filled with lots of visiting, creating and snacking on delicious refreshments.

Yesterday was our first
~Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Class~
It was a huge sucess. Thank you Bobbi from Not Too Shabby for teaching it.  She taught 4 techniques, and the students painted a small piece of their own.  Some of the students are now asking for the advanced class. (more info on that to come soon)

We often get request to repeat these classes so I am going to list out the next few on the calender.

It feels a little bit like Spring here

I don't know if it the beautiful weather or what, but it feels a little bit like Spring here at
The Vintage Bricoleur.
I think maybe it is some of the soft colors in some of the displays.

There are pretty flowers in pots.
Kinda makes you want to head out to the potting bench.

This wreath is perfect for the coming Spring days.

This little green frog, potted plants, and galvanized bucket are all saying
Spring.

Beautiful pink and white chenille pillows cheer up the room.

The soft greens of this water color are wonderful.

How about a gazing ball for the garden?  Or some sea fans to add to a display.

On a different note.....
We had these at the Vintage Valentine Workshop.

Chocolate cake with cream cheese icing and raw sugar sprinkles.
(different camera setting)

All of the fun things that were used at the Workshop.
 Another fun night of creating.

Jewelry Workshop Report

Last Thursday evening we held our Jewelry Workshop.
The class was full and it was very inspiring to see all the beautiful creations.

So you start out with this.

A few tools are required.

Start laying out what you think would look pretty.

And then put it together.

Each one was different.

Vintage buttons being put to good use.

Shell buttons look nice on this one.

This artist chose darker colors.

This necklace is a nice mix of dark and light.

Silver was the main theme here.

Look at the cute heart button pendant.

It was a relaxing way to spend the evening.

The feedback from this class was very positive.

Our next Workshop will be for
Vintage Valentines.
