Summer Review and Fall Plans

Pin It
Where did the time go?
Summer is over.
 The kids are back in school and we are gearing up for the Fall season.

Summer for us started with
Remnants of the Past.
It was the first week in June.
(San Luis Obispo)

We went back down to the San Luis Obispo area just two weeks later for a graduation party
(Gypsy theme)
and were able to take an extra day on the weekend and go to the beach.
(Pismo)

Once more in July we headed down for a friend's wedding.  It was beautiful, right on the beach at the end of the pier.
(Cayucus)

The first part of August we made a quick trip back to Texas to attend our nephew's wedding
Curt &Laura
(Texas)

It was also good to see my sisters and their families.
(missing a nephew here)
(Texas)

Angela our first born turned 16 while we were in Texas.
(here she is in her Gypsy costume for the graduation party in S.L.O.)
Sweet 16 Ange!

I got to hang out for a bit with my friend
 Jillian from The Virginia House
(Her home and blog have been featured several times.)
(Texas)

During our stay, we out just about every day looking for treasures to bring back to our customers.  Also on our way home we stopped a few times at Antique stores and malls.
(If only we had brought the trailer!)
(Colorado)

Now that we are home and school has started, we are getting ready for two special shows.
(our space at the Spring show)
(Roseville)

and
(us in front of our space last show)

October 19, 5pm-8pm

My picks for The Versatile Blogger Award

Pin It
About a week ago, I was nominated by Three O'Clock Winds for
The Versatile Blogger Award.
I was suprised when Erica said that she was inspired by reading my blog.  Thank you so much!  I am happy when I can inspire someone with a new idea of how to decorate or how to redo a piece of furniture.

So here are the rules for what I need to do.

Rules:

- Thank the person who gave you the award.

- Include a link to their blog.

- Select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.

- Nominate 15 bloggers that you've recently discovered or follow regularly for the Versatile Blogger Award.

- Link to their blogs.

- Tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Here is a list of 15 blogs that I read and follow for a variety of reasons.  These bloggers inspire me, encourage me,(thanks Mom and B & L), keep me in touch with their families, have great tutorials, let me know about other dealers, a few have cute little shops, and a few bring me the most traffic on my own blog.  Thanks so much ladies!
These are not in any specific order.  I am am happy to see when any of them has posted.
(Wow, that's hard, only 15?)

O.K. Erica, seven things about myself.
  1. I have always lived in Northern California.
  2. I am a true bricoleur at heart.  Always trying to use things in different ways.
  3. I live in a house that is almost 100 years old.  (Built in 1915)
  4. I am afraid of snakes and mice.
  5. I have three sweet children, two girls and a boy and a wonderful husband.  I am the oldest of six.
  6. I want God's will for my life.
  7. Antiquing is in my blood, my parents are also dealers.
So there you have it!  You know a little bit more about me and you know some of my favorite blogs.
Thanks for reading!

The Viginia House interveiwed by Houzz Tour

Pin It
My good friend and fellow blogger Jillian from The Virginia House was recently interveiwed by Houzz..
Check out this post  ~Making "Normal" Beauitful for Less~.

It is a tour of her home and explains how she decorated the different rooms.  In the master bedroom on the bed is a pillow that I created especially for her.  Her home is beautiful and homey and she creatively decorated it for next to nothing.  I'm sure that you will love it as much as I do.

The Pool House  ~ The Pool House ~   The brick floor she painted herself!

The Dining Room  ~ The Dining Room ~  So simple and cozy.

These are two of my favorite rooms.

Visit her blog for lots of before/after projects and makeovers.

I am so excited for her that she got this interview.
Congratulations Jillian!

A Giveaway to Celebrate

Pin It
I did a post about a Giveaway that I had planned.  I was waiting for my 100th follower.  Before I could post it, I got not 1, but 2 more followers.  This may not seem like a big deal to some, but this blog and business is pretty new for me, and every little number counts.

So...
Enough of that.

To celebrate 100 followers,

Here is what we will do, Jillian from The Virginia House has prepared one of her awesome signs especially for this Giveaway.
On lucky reader will receive,

This.

Don't you just love it?

A sign reading,
Jones & Co. Apothecary.

She has two Etsy shops with great items for you to choose from and for this week only, if you use the special code, LOVETVB for either of the shops you will receive 15% off of your order.

This sign is hand painted with an aged look.

I am an artist that loves to create things that look like they
 belong in the past.  The shabby, chippy, and yellowed
days gone by is my inspiration.
I do custom orders as well as many of my own creations.

Here are the rules.
1. Follow this Blog (The Vintage Bricoleur) and leave a comment to let me know that you do.

2. Follow The Virginia House Blog and leave a comment here to tell me that you do.

3. Post about his Giveaway on either your Blog or your Facebook page and leave a comment for each post telling me that you have done so.

4. Follow both The Virginia House and The Vintage Bricoleur on Facebook and leave a comment telling me that you have done so.

(PLEASE LEAVE SEPARATE COMMENTS SO THAT YOU HAVE MORE CHANCES OF WINNING.  SEVERAL ARE LEAVING JUST ONE COMMENT, BUT DOING ALL FOUR ITEMS)

So let the fun begin!

This Giveaway begins September 18th and will end September 25th at midnight pacific time.  The winner will be announced the next day.

Don't forget to take advantage of the 15% off of your purchase at those Etsy shops!

Have Fun!

A Giveaway Planned...

Pin It
Traditionally when I have reached a milestone on this blog, I have celebrated by doing a Giveaway.
I am ready for it, I'm at 99 followers, almost 100.
When I reach 100, I will host a giveaway.

(THE DAY BEFORE THIS POST WAS SCHEDULED, I GOT MY 100TH FOLLOWER....  SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME ON THIS POST)

 This time it will be a little different.  I will be partnering with a fellow blogger who has not one, but two etsy shops and a very successful blog.
She also happens to be the first blog I ever started reading and followed.

Well?  What are we waiting for?  (THE WAIT IS OVER.)

Do you want to know who the other blogger is?
We'll just have to wait and find out.

Again, 100 followers will start this rolling.
(I GUESS I BETTER GET BUSY. THE GIVEAWAY WILL START SOON.  I WILL DO A POST TO LET YOU KNOW ALL OF THE DETAILS.  YOU WILL ALSO FIND OUT WHO THAT MYSTERY BLOGGER IS.)

````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
On a side note, for a while I was unable to see who my followers were.  I had a browser problem.  After it was fixed, I had 10 new little faces to meet.  I enjoy "meeting" each and every one of you and checking out your blogs. (if you have one).  Thank you to those of you who already follow.
Featured & A Vote
Pin It
Our space, along with some others at The Antique Trove, was featured in the Sacramento Magazine.  My parents who are also dealers at the Trove, did a post about it on this blog, Wildberry Ranch.  To see more about this go here.
Our space a few months ago.
Also if you don't mind head on over to The Virginia House and put in a vote for my pillow.  I am one of Jillian's five favorite picks.  The voting is open till next Friday.
Pillow Inspiration
Pin It
Every once in a while I head on over to Restoration Hardware for some inspiration.  I love so many things there but they are not in my budget.  I saw this cute little pillow there and thought that it would look nice on my couch but the tag said $45.
Banque de France Burlap Pillow Cover
Too much for me.
I thought I wonder if I can make something similar?
 So,
I did.  A little burlap sack, a homemade stencil, a pillow form and there you have it!  For $4 instead of $45!
Along with some others.
I love to mix the burlap and the lace.  Who would have thought that we would be putting burlap on on our beds and our couches!  It just adds the perfect touch of texture.
So, I am linking this pillow project to Jillian at The Virginia House, with her We Can Do It Cheaper Monthly "Copy" Link Party.
