TVB at Remnants of th Past Spring 2013 ~ 2

This is my Part 2 post about
Remnants of the Past - Spring 2013.
Last post I shared all the garden items we had for sale.  Now I will share everything else.

We had lots of industrial items including two set of these wood drawer cubbies.
 Both sold.

Lots of vintage books found new homes.
Don't they look pretty next to the salvage architectural?

This 1953 Postal sorting cubby was a main focal point.  We stuffed it full of little white pitchers, sea shells, jars with white buttons, butter pats, etc.

This vintage cupboard was a great place to display ironstone, vintage phots, linens, pillows and primitive wood utinsels.

A collection of wood spools stood together on a large farm table.

A couple of girls stood gracefully in the corner.

A large ironstone pitcher with fresh peonies, mustard jar, ivy wreath, and side table, in front of a vintage black screen door.

This collection of pretty vintage quilts added a nice pop of color.

A large primitive pine cupboard full of apothecary jars, ironstone, crystal, vintage jars with zinc lids.

This basket was a great place to hold a couple of pillows, primitive wood paddles and rolling pins.

Oh yes.  We can't forget the pie.  It sat in the antique pie safe looking pretty and smelling so nice.  It made for a tasty afternoon snack.

So, as you can see, we had a large varity of things.  Industrial, garden, primitve, shabby...

It all goes together nicely, when it is usful to a person.  A little mix is good.  That is what makes a cozy and homey home.  Things that you love and that you can use.

These are the types of items that we try to have available for you in our store.  Come see for yourself!

Unique & Useful Finds at The Vintage Bricoleur

The Vintage Bricoleur offers a variety of unique and useful finds for your decorating needs.  Being the practical person that I am, I am always looking for items that can be both pretty and at the same time serve a purpose.

bricoleur
(Noun) French:
One who makes creative and resourceful use
of whatever materials are at hand
 regardless of their original purpose.

How about a vintage door with a mirror in it for a backdrop to a dresser?  Or a basket to hold a collection of silver plate?

Pretty old jars are great for storing food in the pantry or for organizing threads and buttons in the craft room.

A chippy ladder is an excellent plant stand, works well for a book shelf, or quilt rack.

A metal stand paired with some primitive bead board make a perfect side table.

A long wood box with shelves built in to it is a great bookcase or display for small spaces.

This metal headboard/footboard hung side-by-side on the wall would be a great headboard for a bigger bed.  Love the color!

These rolls of burlap are so pretty draped around a window or used as a table runner.

Come get your "bricoleur" shirt.  Available at the store, both in Men & Women styles.

So...
Have these photos inspired you to use something similar in your home?  Do you need something like this to complete a project?  Did you come up with a different idea than what I suggested?
Please share what you are thinking.  I love comments. :)

Angela's Beach Room

This post is going to have a LOT of pics.
My daughter Angela has decorated her room so beautifully and I want to share it with you.

Let's go take a look...

This room becomes the guest room when over night company comes to stay.

Such a light and airy room...
Cozy quilt and throw pillows.

I love the colors she has chosen.

Beach sign and shells.

All the little beach details, almost make you think you are at a beach house.

She loves to decorate and use vintage items such as her Army sachel used as a purse.

Her pretty vintage clock.

The board and batten seem to add to the beach theme.

Oh how she loves her vintage headboard!

Little details.

Yes, she is a reader.
She has managed to make the shelf look pretty though.

Sea glass, shells and bottles.

Port hole mirror.

Sun catcher.

One last glance.

The Coffee Table

I recieved such kind comments about the posts I did on my home
I decided to share a little bit more. One of the reasons I like to share pics of my home is to give inspiration of how to decorate using vintage items.  We sell similar things in our store.

So here is the coffee table.

It is simply an old wood box/trunk.
Place it in front of your sofa or a couple of chairs and you have a
coffee table.

Place some items on top that you love, and you are done!

Pretty shells and an old sea float were gathered to sit in my vintage locker basket.

A few of my favorite decorating books also rest here, easy to pick up and browse through for great inspiration.

Summer decorating wouldn't be complete without some beautiful hydrangeas.

I love the hardware on this primitive piece.

And the patina of the wood.  Some would say that it is not perfect.
I love it that way.

Another peek of the hardware.

Perfect for my living room.

What do you use for a coffee table?
