My sweet husband purchased a copy of the book

Patina Style

  for me at the Remnants of the Past show.

This book written by Brooke and Steve Giannetti, also the writers of the blog

Velvet and Linen,

has been an inspiration to me.

The pages are full of beautiful photos.  In getting ready for the opening of our store, The Vintage Bricoleur, I have refered to the pages of the book over and over.  Building a new space and wanting it to appear like an old space can be a challenge.

If you have not purchased a copy of this book yet, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

I love mine, I know you will love yours also.

High Hand ~ Our New Shop Location

             

                     The location for our new shop is at the High Hand fruit sheds in Loomis.                                  

                                 High Hand is located in Loomis at the historical fruit sheds.

There is a

Conservatory and Cafe

Nursery

Flower Market.

The old packing sheds are huge and inside are several shops.  Ours will be one of them.  Here are a few pics to let you know what it looks like.

Everywhere you look, it is so beautiful.

The Conservatory has a delicious menu.

The walkway inside the sheds, lined with beautiful pots.

Now facing the space where our shop will be. 

The pots will be rearranged to create a walkway up to the door.

An Announcement!!!

I have hinted in the last several posts about something exciting that we have been working on.

Well today I am going to share what that is...

That's right!

We are taking a big step, and opening up our own little shop!

We are so excited!!!

We will be located inside the historic fruit sheds in downtown Loomis, CA. 

Also, inside the sheds are many other shops to visit,

Alameda ~ November 6th

It is that time again. 

Alameda this coming Sunday.

 So much has happened since the last Alameda show that it almost seems that we missed a month.

The details...

6 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Spaces P-7 & 8

We will be there even if there are a few showers.

We have a few great items that are left from the last two shows we did, one of them being

 Remnants of the Past.

We also have been busy this month and have found some new treasures that we will bring to this show.

Busy Fall Days

Busy, Busy Busy.

That describes this fall for us.

It started with Alameda the first Sunday in October. 

 Next, was the biggest show of the year for us, Remnants of the Past.

My husband's sister and her husband were here for a visit.

We had a great time at the show in Willows after that.

We planned an 80th Birthday for a friend.

We have had out-of-town company for the last week and we are loving it!

We took a trip to the Pumpkin Farm.

All through this time we have been planning and planning.....

Vintage Sheet Music for Decorating

I love music.

  I love to listen to it.  I love to sing it.  I try to play it.  And I love to look at it.

I think that it is very pretty. 

 So, I decorate with it.

A wreath right in the center of a winter mantle.

Garlands draped through a pretty table.

I even like it with a summer mantle.

Different aged peices put together to make a beautiful look.

It's very pretty with ironstone.

Or with a chandelier and French chair.

Here it softens the tin backdrop and looks great with a bunch of chippy frames.

I even wrap soap in it.

These garlands looked awesome displayed in big glass vases.

They also look great just hung up, or wrapped around something.

I have a few other ideas I am working on.  I will share them when I finish them up.

Black Hutch

Every once in a while I feature an item that is for sale in one of our store locations. 

 This beautiful black hutch is available at

 Scout Living.

1215 18th Street between L & Capitol.

This hutch would make a perfect serving sideboard for the upcoming holidays.

It has two drawers to hold silverware and linens. Inside the doors below are handy shelves for dishes and stemware.

The details on this piece are beautiful. 

 The beveled mirros help reflect what is being displayed on the top as well as whatever room it is in.

So head on over to Scout to take a look.  There are many other great items in the store as well.
